Situated in the centre of Basel's Old Town, on the banks of the Rhine, Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois is one of Europe’s oldest city hotels, where such personalities as Napoleon, Elizabeth II, Pablo Picasso, Thomas Mann and others have stayed.
The Cheval Blanc restaurant was awarded 3 Michelin stars and 19 Gault Millau points.
This hotel offers ultimate luxury from start to finish. The style is traditional, everything is impeccably maintained, and the entire place is spotless. The staff were exceptional, always greeting us with a smile and being incredibly helpful and accommodating.
The food was delicious, the cocktails were perfect, and the breakfast, cakes, and other treats were outstanding. Our room was extremely comfortable and very quiet. Every piece of furniture and every detail had clearly been thoughtfully considered and was in perfect condition.
They provided robes, slippers, shoehorns, an umbrella, and more. The welcome treats included fresh fruit, chocolates, and a little Eurovision-themed cake. In the evenings, they tidied the room for turndown service, closed the curtains, and neatly arranged our belongings.
The corridors were carpeted with a thick central runner, which meant we never heard anyone passing by, even though the hotel was fully booked.
We were also given a jar of hotel jam to take away with us and we can't wait to try it.
If you’re considering this hotel and can afford the price tag, you will not be disappointed. Book it.

The staff were really nice and helpful. Mr Shoukree and Mr.Ronan as.well as Julia were superb!. The location was great. The hotel provided city travel passes for the days of our stay.

Historical and very beautiful hotel with truly 5 stars service. The Restaurant Cheval Blanc is exceptional and we have a lovely evening. The location is great and near the Mittlere Brücke.

My wife and I stayed here for one night.. When a slight concern was raised they went above and beyond to make our stay really special. The on site restaurant is superb. We have dined at Michelin and Rossete restaurants and we went in with a more general expectation of the menu and were pleasently surprised by the exceedingly good standard of the menu. We would highly recommend anyone, alone, as a couple or with children to stay here. The staff were helpful, friendly and have great communication skills and the facilities are very good.

That was really amazing stay in a truly magnicient, exceptional hotel. This is definitely in my TOP 5 list of 5 star hotels and I wish to be back as soon as possible. From the first minute there I felt welcome. At the breakfast you get the Micheline-type attention and service.
