Nestled in a wooded valley, Gidleigh Park boasts 107 acres of mature grounds, within the wilds of Dartmoor. With an award winning restaurant, this estate is just 6 minutes’ drive from Chagford.

This quintessential country house hotel has free WiFi throughout and offers individually styled accommodation with views over the grounds. The rooms feature a flat-screen TV and an en suite bathroom. The self-contained cottage boasts an open plan living area and 2 bedrooms. Settled in the Dartmoor national park, it is a very quiet and comforting get away. You can have a short walk with children from there as well as long ones. Plenty of nice activities in the hotel (boardgames, crocket, tennis, walks). The place is full of charm and history. The staff is extremely kind and efficient. They made the stay easy for a single parent, offering private dining. The kids menu was varied, delicious and decently priced. The restaurant was a treat for me as well.

This historic hotel combines old world character and charm with the convenience of a modern hotel. As well as Lord Fortescue's restaurant, the hotel also houses "62 The Bank" a popular cafe/bar/bistro. The room was spacious, the bathroom, excellent, with good flowing shower. We did not have breakfast, as dinner the night before sustained us well into late morning!
