They are accessible only by foot due to the way the ancient town was built. I received excellent recommendations from the hotel about parking for our rental car. There is a secure parking building about 15 minutes walk away that cost 20 euro per day, although this is not the only option. The reception staff were excellent and organised for our luggage to be taken to our room - much appreciated considering the cobbled paths around the hotel. The room was large, quiet and well appointed. The included continental breakfast was adequate and the spa facilities were a nice addition.

We absolutely loved our stay at Vetera Matera. We had a very late arrival, around 11pm, and the staff were beyond accomodating. Our transfer shuttle met us at the packing garage and the communication was seemless. Giovanni was at reception upon check in, and was an absolute delight. Francesco was also very helpful, with wine and snacks ready when requested even at such a late arrvial time. Both were so proud of the hotel and the area, full of great tips and lots of history about the hotel and the area. Our room was amazing, we had a terrace which was so great to see the view late at night. The breakfast was lovely too, and we were sad we were only there for one night! Can not recommend this hotel enough. A great location to discover the town, with the friendliest of staff! (Fillipe who carried our bags up and down those stairs and drove us back to our car was amazing as well).

Everything in this hotell was very good and particularly the kitchen and this man that worked there as waiter and was from Matera ,very polite and helpful ,so good memories.

Regiacorte is one of the most elegant and refined restaurants in Matera. A stunning Lounge Terrace enjoys spectacular views of Piazza San Pietro Caveoso and the beautiful rock church of the Madonna dell'Idris. I stayed at Sant'Angelo Hotel for one night and I wouldn’t choose any other place for my stay in Matera! The hotel is located right in the heart of the old town, and from the moment I arrived, I felt completely immersed in the history of the city. The staff is incredibly welcoming and caring, always ready to help and ensure you have a pleasant stay. When we arrived, the driver Francesco was already waiting for us at the parking lot, ready to accompany us to the hotel. The first treat my partner and I received was a detailed explanation of the city map, which gave us a great first impression of Matera, along with a refreshing welcome drink. After that, they personally accompanied us to our room through a short walk, which made us feel truly special. We slept in a cave room with a private patio: an unforgettable experience that really made us feel connected to the past. I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying the experience of staying in a room with a view! Highly recommended!

Its price is what you would expect from a five-star hotel, but the quality is there. If you can indulge yourself for an unforgettable stay, look no further.

We were in town for a family reunion in nearby Anzi. We felt as if we were staying with family. The pictures online don’t do it justice. This place is a gem! We will definitely be back.
