Otsu
Set in Otsu and with Daigo-ji Temple reachable within 9.2 km, Hotel Koo Otsuhyakucho offers concierge services, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a shared lounge. Featuring a bar, the 5-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with a private bathroom. The accommodation features entertainment staff and room service. Hotel Koo Otsuhyakucho is absolutely fantastic. The staff all display a unique blend of supportiveness, professionalism and kindness that made it such a pleasure to stay there. The vibe around the hotel is relaxed, but everything is maintained at a high standard. I really liked the lounge area, with the free drinks and snacks being a particular highlight. The room I stayed in was very large with soft beds and a modern bathroom, albeit designed such that it was in-keeping with the general townhouse vibe of the hotel. I would recommend both the shopping arcade tour and the breakfast to anyone interested in staying here. The staff will also support you in finding local restaurants that suit your taste! It is extremely easy to get to/from Kyoto from here (regular trains, taking around 10-15 mins). Staying here would be the highlight of any trip to the Kansai region.

I don't normally write reviews but this hotel - the staff, location and facilities - is outstanding.
Free shuttle bus service with scheduled timetables. Friendly staff; food and service are superb! A relaxing place more for adults.
We were met with friendly staff, who in no time completed our check in, and served us with a drink while we waited. We were then guided to our room with clear explanation of things we needed to know. The breakfast and dinner were really an eye-opening experience in the Japanese food culture. The private in room onsen was just superb.
the kaiseki breakfast was absolutely incredible. our room (river view) was stunning and the amenities were great, the staff was absolutely lovely (especially when helping with the yakutas) and the location was absolutely superb - right in the centre of Kinosaki. THE best night's sleep I've had in years (well over a decade), we roasted ourselves in the amazing hot springs until the very last opening minutes (11pm) and couldn't wait to do it again first thing in the morning.
Excellent stay at Kiyotaki Ryokan during our cycle around Lake Biwa. The owner and staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were spacious and clean. The bath facilities were also superb. Highly recommend both the dinner and the breakfast - the food was fantastic! We would definitely stay here again :)
I like the food, the service and our room Superb
Room was really big with two bedrooms with two different sleeping options - futon or raised beds - outside private onsen was superb - public onsen was outstanding
The luxurious style
Very traditional feel, hosts gave a lot of space but were readily available when required. Hikone is a lovely area to cycle. I cycled to the next town Taga with the free bicycle (believe you may need to book early if it's peak season) and stopped at Patisserie violet. The hamburg restaurant nearby was superb. For omi beef Ikkyu (mid range price) was delicious. Breakfast is recommended!
Breakfast and dinner were just amazing, it was like a 5-stars hotel, if not more! Staff was incredibly nice as it's often the case in Japan. The interior of the building is so nice, the room as well. I was sold. I already booked my next stay there in a couple of months!
