The bed was extremely comfortable and cosy. The bathroom was separated by a proper wall (not glass) and the shower pressure + temperature was excellent. The location is terrific. Right on the pedestrian street (go right) and the awesome market (go left). Walking distance to Gulangyu island ferry (FYI: you need to take your passport to buy tickets). Elevator is handy for luggage. The AC was fast, quiet and effective and the wifi was ok. The staff were friendly and helpful, but note you’ll be reliant on translate tools if you don’t speak Mandarin Chinese. If this is your first time to China (or like us an unexpected long layover), make sure you have everything internet ready pre-travel: change from Google to Bing (or another non-Google search engine), sign up to stuff with a non-gmail account, download AliPay and connect a bank card so you can book DiDi cars + pay for stuff in shops that have wifi, pre-download Chinese on Google translate, and get Amap for navigating. WeChat is hard to sign up to if you don’t know anyone in China, it’s not essential though.

Breakfast top up is worth it for the convenience and comfort, not a huge spread, however expect quality homely breakfast with food like soya bean milk, roasted sweet potatoes, I like their German ham. In short, Highly recommended for anyone seeking a unique, out of the beaten track and tranquil experience in Xiamen! They are new on booking.com , hence you will not get much review. These guys will do well once it gets popular, so do go before it gets way too crowded.
