Set inside the Matera Sassi area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Palazzo Degli Abati offers unique rooms carved in the rock or in a 18th-century building. Unique rock room but felt open and spacious. Excellent location with super views from the terrace. Enjoyed our outside sitting area. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent and varied.

Le Malve Cave Retreat Cave Retreat is located in Sasso Caveoso, the historic part of Matera. It boasts air-conditioned rooms with a town-view balcony and a buffet breakfast. What an amazing experience to sleep inside a cave in the middle of this incredible place. Room was spacious, clean, fully equipped, new and clean linnens and towels. Everything very modern and cozy The shower is a 10 plus! Amazing! Pier was outstanding 🙏🏼

Set inside the Matera Sassi UNESCO site, Corte San Pietro is housed in a renovated historical building carved out of stone. It offers rooms with a private entrance and free Wi-Fi throughout. Absolutely everything!! This hotel is simply Devine. It is right in the middle of the old city. We couldn’t have been happier with our accomodation choice. We were also treated to the biggest and most delicious complimentary breakfast. I can’t recommend this accomodation enough! They also provided fantastic maps and recommendations for the city and restaurants to eat including our favourite… Kiev!!

Offering free parking and free Wi-Fi, the modern Bhotel features a large garden with a tennis court. It is located in the Basilicata town of Lagonegro, just off the A3 motorway exit. Friendly atmosphere, even dog was allowed to the restaurant.

Set 700 metres from the Sassi di Matera UNESCO site, Hotel Casino Ridola offers a swimming pool and free parking with video surveillance. WiFi is free in all rooms. Very nice accomodation. Very clean. Nice and helpful staff that gave us many recommendations. Will definitely come back!

Staying at MOYΣEION felt like stepping back into the world of Magna Graecia. The welcome ritual performed by Davide made the whole experience really special and set the tone for our stay. The service was outstanding, the staff incredibly helpful, and the cave pool was just breathtaking—my friend Pete especially loved the statues surrounding it. The togas, rituals, and attention to detail made the whole visit immersive and memorable. I also recommend booking an Ape Car tour through the front desk when you arrive—it’s the perfect way to explore Matera. Plus, if you call ahead, they’ll even arrange a pickup from the bus station, which is really convenient.
