Room: Big spacious room, with bedroom and seperate living space. Kitchen was fully equipped to cook a light meal. Big Breakfast basket was given to us which included eggs, assorted breads, juices, cold cuts etc. Room was very clean. Facilities: Big common lounging space, nice restaurants with a view, which were unfortunately closed I suppose due to not many guests. Service: Staff was very quick to respond and were extremely polite and nice. Resort shuttle was very good, they dropped and picked us up from all hiking points, supermarket and also pick and drop to the station.

From the moment of arrival to drop off at train station, top class treatment throughout. It’s a historic, well-established hotel nestled in a quiet forest catering to celebrities and well-heeled travelers since 1894. Service and meal offerings were spectacular; the rooms modern and well-appointed, on par with any four-and five star hotels. Something that really caught my attention was the cushioned floors in the room; walking on them gave a level of comfort I’ve not felt at other hotels. And end your day at the iconic bar where John Lennon entertained those gathered on that piano when he stayed here.

Each meal is special, with many local and seasonal ingredients. This gives a proper traditional Japanese meal experience in my opinion, with plenty different textures and tastes. The scenery is breathtaking, with Mt. Ontake. There are free drinks available in the lounge, and the onsen is really big, with two outside baths. The staff is really nice and can speak decent english.

Situated right on the Nakiyama Slope of Happo One mountain, Marillen Hotel by HHG features Austrian-style décor, carved wood furniture and a fireplace. It provides ski equipment storage. Great location, you’re one minute walk to the chairlift and many bars and restaurants

Incredible property. Well worth the price! Beautiful rooms, property, and baths. Incredible food. Cannot rave enough about how kind the staff were despite our more limited Japanese. Amazing dining menu included. Well worth it for friends, families and anyone looking to get off the beaten path from Tokyo. The snow mokey park nearby was also an amazing treat!
