Take one of the top floor rooms if you can effort it. The view is great!

First time experience with Kaiseki menu and everything was exceptional down to the appetiser drinks. Loved that the menu showcased a lot of regional specialties to Kyushu, especially Oita prefecture. The location next to a stream was very peaceful. We enjoyed sitting and listening to the river. In room onset was great though the water from the hot spring is very very very hot (good thing they warn you in the introduction video) and loved the little touches such as females being able to pick their own Yukata pattern. Futons were very comfortable and plenty of tea and coffee available in room. A special thanks to our Ryokan host, Ryota, who tried his best to convey everything to us in English (and did so very well) and extended every hospitality possible to in an impeccable manner. We would 100% return.

We stayed at a room with open-air bath type A, room no. 305. We loved this room so much! We will definitely go back to stay here again. All the staffs were so helpful and so kind. Their service was perfect. The foods were so delicious and I mean every single thing on each plate! Even their still-water was so delicious!! I do not think there is any ryokan in Japan as perfect as this place. I recommend this place with all my heart.

Kannawaen is an entirely non-smoking accommodation that features a garden, terrace and bar in Beppu. 100 metres from Hells of Beppu, the property is also 500 metres away from Jigokumushikobo Kannawa. It was in a perfect spot with a private Onsen In our room!

Spacious room with private hot bath facilities. Dinner and breakfast are delicious and serve in private dinning room. Few staffs can speak Cantonese. Roy at the dinner serve us with great hospitality and is very professional. Compliment should be given to Roy. Location is walkable distance to the main shopping street.

Kutsurogi-no-Yado Nanakawa offers private maisonettes with a private outdoor hot spring bath, a Japanese-style living room and free wired internet, a mere 1-minute stroll from Lake Kinrin. The staff who came out to meet us and carried our luggage as soon as we parked in the parking lot, and those who helped with our luggage when we left and saw us off until we left the parking lot, were all very kind. The room was spotless and nice. The private open-air bath attached to my room provided a fantastic solo hot spring experience, and the quality of the spring water was so good that it made my skin silky smooth.
