We loved staying at the De Saram House, and were very excited to stay in one of Bawa’s projects in Colombo - it did not disappoint! Both the private rooms and communal areas are beautiful, and it is a very peaceful environment, whilst still being well located within the city. The dining room is a standout, and was a great place to eat breakfast with the sunlight filtering in. Anthony and the staff were very kind and helpful, and the breakfast was fantastic. We definitely hope to be back!

Arcade Independence Square is 4 km away and Sinhalese Sports Club is 4.1 km from the guest house. Beautiful property in a tranquil spot by the river, wonderful service and such friendly staff. We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay more! We arrived early in the day and were offered breakfast and they were also able to have our room ready early, which was fantastic! Can't recommend Aathma Colombo House enough. We had a few hours exploring Colombo and it was quick to get to the city by Tuk Tuk.

What really stood out for me was the warm and genuinely friendly nature of the staff – and of the owner himself, if you’re lucky enough (as I was) to meet him and his wife in person. Every little request is handled with great care and kindness at La Maison de Colombo. For me, it was an exceptional stay – one I can wholeheartedly recommend. The fact that the hotel isn’t right in the city centre actually turns out to be a huge plus – it’s wonderfully quiet and peaceful at night. That said, getting into Colombo and seeing the sights is easy – whether you hop on a local bus, grab a tuk-tuk, or take a taxi. All in all, an unforgettable experience – and excellent value for money! Very stylish and warm-hearted!
