I was very lucky to be able to book a room in last minutes right before my arrival to Sri Lanka since this property is highly popular. I’m very happy to experience seeing and feeling Mr. Bawa’s design implementation. The property is very clean and the staffs are very kind and assistive. It’s quiet and calm. No TV, so I don’t get distracted by unnecessary noise. there’s Wifi, but relatively slow, which I don’t mind. I’d love to come back to and stay longer next time.

Nestled on a serene lane in Colombo 3, Lake Lodge is a charming 10-room retreat that combines understated elegance with warm hospitality in the heart of the capital. I had a very late check-in, and was so pleased the beds were so comfy that I could knock out asleep. The service and staff support was fantastic, and the fresh fruit was phenomenal. A wonderful experience.

The staff at La Maison really went above and beyond. From greeted arrivals with welcome drinks to attentive and friendly staff at the restaurant. Chamara in particular was an excellent concierge. He booked appointments for me at the local spa (Noelines is great!) organised transfers and provided helpful recommendations. The hotel is a green oasis in busy Colombo. I enjoyed lounging by the pool and slept in the most comfortable bed. The location was safe so I felt comfortable walking to other cafes, restaurants and ATMs on my own. The owner Christophe is very passionate about his hotel and will happily answer questions or give you a tour. There are seven rooms at La Maison each with their own French theme. Finally I’d recommend the cheese platter which is actually made up of French imported French cheeses!

Enjoyed the buffet breakfast—plenty of tasty options including fresh fruit. Special mention to the rooftop pool with ocean and city views. Would definitely stay again!
