The beachfront location was absolutely stunning. We had a great time relaxing and swimming in the pool. We had breakfast and dinner with the best ocean view. Room was clean and spacious. The restaurant had fresh food with lots of different options on the menu. The staff were amazing and were the best part of the stay!

We had the most incredible time at Shades, what a treat it was! It’s tucked away in a quiet spot amongst all the incredible nature. I’ve seen so much wild life during my stay there is no need to go for a safari tour. Waking up in the morning to the sounds of the jungle, starting my day with a swim in a beautiful huge pool and a delicious breakfast by the amazing team. Hospitality is outstanding, your every need is anticipated! Food was incredible, great variety and very balanced flavours. Room was so comfortable, I had the best sleep and a phenomenal view. Location was also great, all the beaches are so easily accessible and I enjoyed being away from all the hassle and busyness of the town, returning to this peaceful sanctuary after exploring around. Can’t wait to be back, thank you team!

We are struggling to find the words to write this review. It is an incredible place to stay on the beautiful south of Sri Lanka. The pictures don’t do it justice. If you’re looking for a calmer place to stay away from the noisy crowds of tourists, The Nook Resort won’t disappoint. We loved how genuine and personable the staff were. They were so welcoming. The Nook is beautifully created, every small detail is well designed, you can feel how much passion the owners put into it, its so clean and comfortable. The restaurant has amazing food all day. Thank you to the owner of The Nook for being so lovely and guiding us to hidden gems and recommending beautiful places. Thank you to all staff for being so friendly and helpful with great service. We would recommend this place to anyone. Stunning!

Set 2.8 km from Weherahena Buddhist Temple, Vanina Villas provides rooms with air conditioning in Matara. The property is beautifully designed and the build quality of the villas and rooms is very high. It’s located on an uncrowded beach with few houses and great waves. The owners are the best and most experienced hosts we’ve ever had and made us feel at home and welcome from the first minute we arrived. The staff is super friendly and go above and beyond to make you feel in paradise. Bonus: a superb pool area and heavenly yet affordable massages and great food.

Offering an outdoor swimming pool and a spa and wellness centre, Highland Villa is located in Weligama. Free WiFi access is available in the rooms of the property. What a wonderful place! It was so nice to wake up in the middle of the nature and hear the sound of the sea and birds. From our balcony we saw monkeys jumping in the trees. Peacocks were walking around in the garden. It was so lovely. The villa is located at the hill, but there is a tuktuk near the gate which made it easy going somewhere. You can also walk to jungle beach (5-10 min walk). We had breakfast every morning (fruit, yoghurt, pancakes, toast, eggs), but it is also possible to make use of the kitchen yourself. Last but not least: a HUGE compliment to the entire staff, for their kindness and their flexibility. Everything was very clean and comfortable. When we are in Weligama again, we would definitely come back! Thank you!
