I never expected to rate a super simple accommodation with a snake in a room this high - but the people and their hospitality, in combination with the destination were absolutely amazing. We felt amazing!

Amazing place, right on a beautiful beach and hiking trail. Surrounded by rain forest and an abundance of wild animals and birds. We had a wonderful 4 day stay, and would loved to have stayed longer. The staff, food, and total experience was one of the best we've experienced in our travels around Costa Rica. We'd love to visit again, and highly recommend.

Fantastic beach front location. Clean linen and towels every day. Very comfortable bed. Good WiFi. Great size bathroom with powerful cool shower. New stove and fridges in kitchen with all utensils. Naturally cool in the room with rainforest in the back, beach in the front (the fan in the room was not required). I loved the shaded sea view patio and falling asleep to the waves. Delicious breakfast varied every morning. Absolutely amazing beach house, I stayed 4 nights and didn't want to leave! The owner Oscar spoke perfect English and helped arrange a tour for me. I will be recommending this place to all travellers!

Absolutely beautiful tropical paradise! We saw tapirs, coatis, monkeys, toucans, macaws and other birds on the property. The meals were absolutely delicious and plentiful and the staff were friendly! Highly recommend a stay here!!

Can't say enough about Anouk and Kevin's hospitality. Sabalo Lodge is off the beaten path but this is what we were looking for. After spending several days in La Fortuna and then Monteverde, our arrival to Sabalo Lodge felt like we had finally arrived to the Costa Rica we had come to experience. The food Kevin prepared for us was out of this world. No exaggeration! The large cabin we stayed in was very nice and spacious, beds very comfortable and a great porch to sit and relax or swing in the hammock. The grounds are very beautiful and we enjoyed the natural swimming pool each day we were there. Kevin arranged and took care of all the booking for our tours which were close by and didn't involve a whole lot of extra travel time in between. Free access to the kayaks was a bonus!! LOTS to explore close by. My son who is 9 had a fantastic time!

This was the perfect lodge for someone like me who enjoys being immersed in beautiful nature. Las Caletas was recommended to me by a friend, and I am so glad I booked it. The staff was very friendly and very helpful with ensuring we enjoyed everything about our stay. Communication was great - I had some questions before I arrived in Drake Bay, and the staff always answered my emails very quickly. The breakfast and dinner meals were incredible, fresh and delicious. The chef did an amazing job creating beautiful meals. The property was beautiful, immaculate and well-maintained by the staff. There was an awesome view of the ocean. The dining room was made of beautiful wood, and attention was paid to every detail, even down to hand-painted wood keychains for the bathrooms. Every morning during breakfast, it seemed there was some new “entertainment” – a pair of scarlet macaws flying by, green parrots in a tree, hummingbirds, an iguana, a sloth! There was always something fun to watch. I booked the tent accommodation. The beds and the seating area were very comfortable. The staff did a great job of keeping our tent and bathroom clean after we returned from many sandy days snorkeling or touring Corcovado National Park. There were always fresh towels for the shower and beach, and a new sheet for the bed every day. Las Caletas seems to attract other nature lovers and we met quite a few friendly people from around the world who were also staying there, and they helped point out animals in the trees. Las Caletas is located right on the Drake Trail, and many of the days we walked to the town (1 hour walk) or other small, secluded beaches (only 10 mins away). Besides tours to Cano Island and Corcovado National Park, there are so many cool things to see just sitting on the beach or walking on the Drake Trail. Overall, I had an amazing stay here and I want to return to Las Caletas in the future!
