If you are coming to Udawalawe for a safari then this is the place to stay. Located very close to the National Park entrance this camp had us feeling like we were one with nature. Our room tent/cabin was ready on arrival. It is not a hotel so you should know going in that this is a camping adventure. Beds were comfy and cam with very good mosquito nets. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure was fine. There is no A/C but you do get a floor fan and the room also has plenty of outlets for charging. You get your own private deck in front of your tent with chairs and a beautiful view of the river. I would suggest allowing them to prepare all of your meals. They were all delicious and came at a fair price considering there is nowhere else to eat within a mile or two. The camp prepares and takes car of everything for you, meals, free river tour, and free night walk after dinner. They also will book your safari for you. Once you arrive, you do nothing. It was absolutely amazing.

He arranged everything for us. The safari trip with Janaka, the amazing tour guide, was incredible, the dinner at the cottage was very good, very comfortable and cool. Amazing structure. We stayed for one night at Kottawatta River Bank Resort. Rooms are unique as they are tent-shaped with a cozy terrace. The outdoor bathroom is quite an experience but in a good way. Nice pool area, perfect to relax. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. For a reasonable price you can sit in an nice atmosphere and get tasty Sri Lankan food. Breakfast buffet in the morning was also good. Staff at the restaurant was very friendly. Supermarkets, liquor stores and local restaurants within a ten minutes walking-distance. In the early morning we did the 3,5hour safari arranged by the hotel which is plenty of time to spot some animals. Card payment in the hotel as well as at the parc possible.

Offering river views, this fan-cooled tent has a private entrance, seating area and extra large bed with spring mattress. It includes a hot water shower, towel and shoe racks. It was a lovely place with a restaurant available, so we did not need to worry about breakfast, lunch, or dinner. In Udawallawe is not possible to go outside for a walk as roads are dark and cars drive fast, so it was nice that Kottawatta Village can provide common areas including a pool so you can enjoy your short stay. And they arranged the safari.

Athgira River Camp is located at the door step of Udawalawe National Park with views of Rakwana River. It’s very close to Udawalawe reservoir and to the Elephant Orphanage. The property is gorgeous and very natural. There are no eye-sores, everything is very blended with nature. The two swimming pools were really lovely and the restaurant buffet dinners were delicious. The best part was the general manager who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. He engaged with our kids and made sure they stayed busy with basketball, volleyball, arranged a village walk across the river, and made special arrangements on our safari to celebrate my son's birthday. He was like a traditional hotel general manager who treats everybody like his personal guest. It's a really special place and definitely a great base for visiting both Udawalawe and Yala parks.

Everything is rteally nice, the rock pools are amazing and the junglke is all around you. The cabins are very new and comfortable. I thought the loud music was a bit irritating, but maybe that was just an exeption!
