We were traveling with 2 kids and they wouldn't stop raving about the place. The hammock outside every cabin was a bonus! Loved the always smiling staff and especially Dhanushka who was more than happy to show us around. From a leisurely boat ride to a night walk to show us the uniqness of his place, we absolutely loved our time spent there. 10/10 would recommend the safari with him. We managed to see the oldest tusker Sumedha on our way out as well. Best place for couples, solo travellers as well as families.

The staff were fantastic and always ready to help answer any questions including “what bird is that” x 20. The staff were patient and knowledgeable and they made my experience amazing!!

The on-site Rose Restaurant serves Western, Chinese and Sri Lankan food. Absolutely brilliant from start to finish. I even left my headphones in the room and the staff found them and organised a taxi to come and drop them off for me. Classy stuff. The room and location were lovely, super clean and we loved the pool. Breakfast and dinner were decent and everything was done with a smile. Highly recommend and the price is great!

International and traditional Sri Lankan dishes are served by the chef on demand, at the main restaurant. Athgira River Camping offers a great outdoor dining experience as well as a barbecue dinner and cooking demonstrations. Real wild cocktails and a nice wine selection are available as well. The property is gorgeous and very natural. There are no eye-sores, everything is very blended with nature. The two swimming pools were really lovely and the restaurant buffet dinners were delicious. The best part was the general manager who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. He engaged with our kids and made sure they stayed busy with basketball, volleyball, arranged a village walk across the river, and made special arrangements on our safari to celebrate my son's birthday. He was like a traditional hotel general manager who treats everybody like his personal guest. It's a really special place and definitely a great base for visiting both Udawalawe and Yala parks.

Barbecue dinner is provided around a campfire. Free WiFi is available in the public areas of the property. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. In particular, our guide Solomons made the safaris and nature walk so much fun and he was so knowledgeable. We appreciated the upgraded tent!
