With a picturesque setting on the banks of the River Dee, this charming Scottish mansion dates back to 1225 AD, and was once home to the Knights Templar. Gorgeous and peaceful property. The surroundings are well maintained. So beautiful. Everything in the hotel caught our attention. We've checked all the corridors and rooms to see the pictures and the paintings. The staff were really kind and professional. We got a warm feeling like being at home and it was so interesting to learn more about the hotel History! The dinner was great and the breakfast as well, the porridge was delicious! Thank you so much, I hope I will stay with you again :)

This was just wonderful, I’d have stayed longer had it been available. Such a cutely furnished tiny house. The lovely hosts are always trying to improve these already excellent cabins by adding more thoughtful details. I loved the skylight above the bed. Best light for reading. Drift off to sleep with the stars twinkling above you. Great Deeside walks just outside the front door. Perfect cosy place for two; I’d say fitting four in here might get a little cramped, especially if you’re going to leave 4 people’s luggage lying around randomly. Hot tub a nice feature. One commenter complained about not being able to use it in the rain, which, frankly, is weird. When you’re immersed in hot water, the rain can’t touch you. The hosts were extremely friendly, and, in my case, literally went that extra mile! Big thank you to Karl, Bess, and Stacey!

The reception by Martyn was very warm, friendly and welcoming, the room was beautiful and very comfortable, and Louise's cooking was truly exceptional. All in all this was just a very pleasant stay for which we are very grateful. Located in the heart of Cairngorms there is plenty to do as well (we went for hiking, but just as easily we could have visited Balmoral castle for instance, or we could just have relaxed in the beautiful countryside), and Ballater has plenty of good options for dinner. We found our hosts extremely helpful, and they went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as they could. Louise's cooking is reason enough in itself to stay at this place, but truly the whole experience was just wonderful. Highly recommended!
