The hosts are kind and thoughtful and gave us very good advice for dinner locally and for our next destination. Best of all, the breakfast was delicious and kept us going all day. Our room was small, but we knew that when we booked so we were not bothered by that in any way. Aovely way to break up the trip from Tokyo to Kamikochi if you have a car and it is worth a visit just for the sake of being there.

We had our wedding at Stone Church, and since all the hotels near the church were fully booked, we chose to stay at the nearby B&B Hyochoan. Our entire stay was filled with warmth and love. We arrived late at around 9 p.m. because we took the wrong Shinkansen, but the hosts were waiting for us and even came out to greet us and help with our luggage from the taxi. Inside, hot tea was waiting for us, and they kindly explained the room’s features. In the morning, we were treated to a delicious and thoughtfully prepared Japanese breakfast. When we were about to leave, we mentioned we were there for our wedding, and the elderly hosts surprised us with a gift of a bottle of wine! Their invoice was also thoughtfully printed, including a photo of us taken during our stay and some local sightseeing recommendations. The house was very clean, with a spacious backyard full of greenery, which was an unexpected delight! For the area, the price was the most reasonable and fair. Highly recommended!

The hosts were some of the best people we have met on our travels. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The property is nearly 200 years old and was very well maintained, so we got to experience the authentic japanese way of life. The property was very conveniently located, being just a few steps away from the bus stand and the Shrine.

Tateshina Shinyu Onsen har et naturligt varmt kildebad til både offentlig og privat brug samt japanske og vestlige retter og aromatiske massagebehandlinger. We stayed here for two nights of our 14 nights in Japan. It was the fanciest and most relaxing part of the trip. All meals and even one drink per person per dinner was included in our package and y'all, the food was so good. You eat in a small private dining room in your comfortable indoor clothes. You don't make any choices so you'll have to be the type that eats what you're fed, though they do cater to allergies (not for us). The food is great quality and variety even if some of it isn't your taste (try everything though!). We had a western style room with two twin beds. I'm 6'4" and I was fine with everything including bathroom and shower. I couldn't quite fit in the chairs at our little table but I didn't need to. The private bath you can reserve is great, I can't take hot baths like my lady can but it was a good temperature. It was cold outside and an open air bath but it wasn't uncomfortable getting in or out. All the interior spaces are beautiful with an elegant library theme. The exterior is slightly more plain but the running stream through the property makes up for that. The staff struggled a little more than the hotels we'd stayed in thus far with helping us in English, but we had English menus and verbal explanations at meals and everyone took great care of us. Checkin was a breeze as they were expecting us and had all the paperwork prepared.

The house was beautiful, spotless, and very comfortable — it instantly felt like home. The location was perfect, and everything was clearly labelled and thoughtfully explained, which made our stay so easy and enjoyable. We also appreciated the little touches like the provided coffee, tea, and other essentials. The host was incredibly responsive and helpful, going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. We truly loved our time here and hope to come back one day. Highly recommend staying here!
