Just 250 metres from Zenko-ji Temple, Matsuya Ryokan offers simple Japanese rooms with tatami-mat floors, a green-tea maker and an attached Western bathroom. The hotel features public baths. Great traditional ryokan that I can recommend to anyone! Nice staff, really good japanese style breakfast, beautiful rooms and so much more. I used the ryokan’s onsen every morning and night. Also great location as Zenkōji temple is located right next to the ryokan. 5/5 stars!

Our room was very large, new and had all the right facilities, kitchen etc. I really liked the onsen of the hotel, and the breakfast was excellent. Snooker table was a cool addition. Staff was super kind and helpful. 15 min. drive from a ski park, 20 min. from Karuizawa city center.

The apartment was about 10-15 minutes drive from the train station, ski resort and shopping areas so I would recommend that you drive. Check-in was easy using a door code. The apartment was well maintained, clean and tidy. The hosts were very responsive. The kitchen was well-equipped and we were cooking our meals most of the time. The rooms were comfortable. We drove to the ski resort everyday which worked well for us.

Tateshina Shinyu Onsen features a natural hot spring bath for public and private use, Japanese and Western meals and aromatic massage treatments. nice welcoming hotel, friendly service staff, clean and well equipped room. the complimentary 30mins private onsen booking is really worth a try, it’s so refreshing and relaxing. the ryokan dinner and breakfast are authentic and sumptuous. we really enjoyed ourself very much. highly recommended!!

A 5-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Tawaraya offers Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV. This was one of the finest ryokans I’ve stayed at in Japan. The outdoor onsen was beautifully designed, making for a perfect winter soak. The room was exceptionally spacious compared to others in the area, with a well-placed private bathroom that offered both convenience and privacy. Additionally, parking was hassle-free, making it a great choice for those traveling by car.
