So long as you're relatively fit, the steep climb through Mangalen is well worth it to enjoy the historical splendour of this area. The accommodation is not far from the top, where there are open top cafes/restaurants with panoramic views. Further below, several more restaurants (especially like the one with a wine bell). The property overlooks Berat new town with its huge and busy promenade. The owner is a professor who has studied Albanian history and staying here encompasses a lot of that history. The hosts are lovely and passionate about their Albanian heritage. The room has a very comfortable and large double bed, with good aircon and wifi. There is a communal lounge with tea/coffee making facilities.

Lovely family that took amazing care of us. Rooms were super clean and beautiful. Location was amazing, very close to the centre and a lovely local neighbourhood. Owners gave us good recommendations about what to do in the area. Super tasty and big breakfast. The owners made us feel very welcome. The rooms have a lot of space and had all the facilities we needed. Everything was clean. Berat was only a 5 minute drive away. Breakfast was made by the grandmother and it was delicious. We would recommend this place!
