Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.

We were fortunate in having the room depicted here. Mind you I’m sure the other rooms were equally lovely … but wow. Lovely quiet spot up on a (steep!) hill. Room was cleverly planned, taking an old room and fitting out with modern amenities. Loved it.
Host was great. Not intrusive, but just seemed to be there if we needed something.
Security is quite stringent at check-in, but I like that. There is comfort in knowing that the people over the hall were ID’ed thoroughly.

The room was clean, and hosts very responsive to messages. A thoughtful touch was providing power adaptors for the Australian ac power points. The accommodation was a few minutes walk to Burnie city centre.

Breakfast was very good especially the barister made coffee. Location was excellent, very central and only a short walk to the city centre.
The hosts, Mike & Melissa were exceptional and very friendly, treating you as if you had known each other for years.
