Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.

We liked all aspects of the Balmoral Guest House. The breakfasts were excellent. Very quiet, and host and staff were extremely friendly. Great location, bus stop a very short distance away. And a lovely walk

The host was in contact to check when I would be arriving. He found out I was taking the train and picked me up from the station. Beautiful guest house, quaint, and clean. Free wifi, towels and soap bar provided. Breakfast is provided if booking directly, but you can still purchase for £5 if you only booked a room. Breakfast is made to order fresh. Location is near centre of town, opposite the hospital. I enjoyed the stay and will come back if ever in that area.

I booked this for a friend who was visiting for the weekend and he really enjoyed his stay. A charming property full of character and an excellent host. Great location and great breakfast. There is nothing to dislike. A property of this age will inevitably have some signs of wear and tear, but it remains excellent value for money. The entrance hall is truly splendid and the building was kept very warm over a severe cold snap.
I/we highly recommend this venue.
