Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.

Very quiet and relaxing
The lovely friendly staff, some of which had excellent multilingual skills - especial thanks to William and Amy
Beautiful scenery
Walking with dog
Very good transport by vehicle to Waikabubak
A truly unique experience. A breathtaking view from every bungalow. The owner Hars has created an organic paradise where 80% of all the meals come straight from his garden. Hars and his Japanese wife are fantastic hosts and organised everything for us including transport to and from the airport , bike hire and three organic meals a day.
On top of that we got to learn lots about real organic farming techniques and the special island of Sumba… thanks Hars we will be back.

Good quiet location (10min from the airport) with rice terrace views from the swimming pool. Love the cottages, spacious and clean. Parking area close to the cottages for our car. Restaurant has a simple breakfast (indonesian food and some bread/jam and fruit), staff is helpful, also provided a lunch to go. Their french fries are the best and the coffee is great!

Quiet place, wooden authentic villa with a balcony facing the hills and river. Everyday, we got a beautiful sunrise view. The staff is very helpful, especially Ina the reception lady. She helped me to book the motor bike and arrange my transfer to the west sumba. She also shared some tips for the destinations we need to visit in East Sumba. The food is amazing. Simple but tasty and make us full. Thank you for the hospitality 😊
