This place has incredible atmosphere. It used to be an elementary school until they closed it a few years ago. It’s all still intact, the blackboards, the gym, etc. A few minutes walk from the main Magome street. The bunk beds were comfortable. The staff was pleasant and friendly. Looking back, I wish I stayed longer than one night.

Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor.

We stayed at the Motomiya after having done the postal trial from Tsumago and we have loved our stay. One step in and you will immediately see the beauty of the place. our room was large and Japanese style, it was our first time sleeping in a tatami but it was very comfortable, the bathroom ( shared with only two other room) were always perfectly clean. the whole house is furnished with taste and you will find fresh flower in all the vases, even in your room! also the food was terrific! Both the dinner and the breakfast were perfectly cooked and tested delicious. Last but not least the gem of this place, your host Mrs Keiko that with her kindness and warm welcoming will make you feel home far away from home. At the end of the day I can affirm that staying in Guest Hose Motomiya makes the difference!

This is a beautiful home in an amazing location. It really exceeded our expectations in every way. The level of detail put into the construction of the building is a work of art.
