Location was near the bus stop (#10). Location was also very near Okunoin cemetery. Was also conveniently located near the meetup point for the night tour. Meals were vegetarian but still good. Had all the amenities. Staff was very friendly and would tell you in advance what time were meals served and morning prayers. They also allowed you to leave your luggage after check out.

Super friendly staff, they were good at trying to communicate with those who couldn't speak Japanese, loads of English written explanations if you need them. Warm and comfy rooms. Slightly set back from the most touristy part of the town which I liked. It's all so close anyway that it really isn't a bother.

Great location, within walking distance of everything in Koya-San. Big room, big shower, comfortable bed and nice breakfast (à la carte fresh sandwich + coffee, at preferred rate) at the coffee next door. The recommendations we received from the owner were a spot on, it made our stay in Koya-San very memorable!

The host is very nice to take care of our staying. Very nice vegan breakfast and dinner. Introducing the local activities which we can attend. Everyone was very friendly here and welcoming. The temple was easy to find and short was short walk from Okunoin cemetery. Food prepared with care and lovely to try traditional meals. Very quiet and peaceful stay. It was an honour to participate in the ceremonies, the fire ceremony felt very special. The rooms were cold initially but the heater worked well and we were comfortable throughout our stay. Thank you very much for an exceptional experience.

We loved the attention to detail, especially the vintage record player with Japanese vinyls and how well stocked the kitchen was (oil, spices, rice, coffee etc. - the best we had in Japan!). Staff was very accommodating. Very spacious, perfect for our group. We had to change the group size due to a mistake of our own and it was very easy to resolve, thank you for that. We had a great time!

Great hosts, good location, very clean and comfortable. Lucky to have their restaurant on site for dinner - one of nicest meals we had in Japan - that is, home cooked by Guest House owner, an outstanding chef.

Very friendly and accommodating hosts! The guest house was at a great location (very close to the bus stop and a convenience store) and the family room was very spacious and clean. Would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend it if you are not planning to do a temple stay at Koyasan! I also highly recommend visiting the cafe - great croissants and drinks!

Great location right in the heart of koyasan town. Very convenient to walk to any attractions nearby. Room facilities are up to bar with some 2-3 star hotel I have been to. Tommy is a super friendly host. He recommends a lot of great local experiences from places to have dinner to different trekking trails and temple rituals you can attend for free. Tommy and his wife run a cafe next door and it’s open from 8am which is a rare thing in koyasan (most shops open at 11am). You get a big discount if you stay at Tommy guest house too ❤️

Tommy Guest House is one of the few guesthouses in Koyasan and certainly the best. Our room was very well equipped as described and quite big. Everything was extremely clean, there were clean towels, new water and tea on the second day. The guesthouse is just a few steps away from the bus stop in the center of Koyasan. Tommy is such a warm and courteous host. The contact before our stay was always quick and super nice. A clear recommendation!

A wonderful Guesthouse in a quieter part of Koyasan but within easy walking distance to all the major attractions. Extremely clean and tidy with large shared living spaces. Conveniently located close to the only Family Mart in town, a bus stop and a little park. Nori, the host, is most helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. I highly recommend Hachi Hachi.

We love our stay at Guest House Suzumeno Kakurembo! Our hosts were so friendly, funny and welcoming! Our room was spotless clean(!), spacious and super cosy! Heating is available (it can get really cold in Koyasan at night) and we also had a water dispenser (hot/cold) in our room which was soo convenient! They also have a restaurant with amazing food! We recommend this guesthouse! Thank you so much for your hospitality!
