This is a unique property style in Japan. You are staying in temple lodgings (宿坊, shukubō). We enjoyed our stay, we had a great, simple room with all we needed. The room was on a separate floor to the workings of the temple. It also offered a unique opportunity to learn and observe the practices of the monks and the temple.

I liked everything about it. The room was convenient and clean. Super nice host who shared good recommendations of things to do and eat in Gojo.

Everything about our stay was just perfect. From being picked up at the train station, delicious homemade meals with records playing in the background, a beautifully appointed home, friendly and helpful hosts, riding through the countryside on electric bikes and being driven to & picked up from Koyasan. Such a special experience.

We loved the attention to detail, especially the vintage record player with Japanese vinyls and how well stocked the kitchen was (oil, spices, rice, coffee etc. - the best we had in Japan!). Staff was very accommodating. Very spacious, perfect for our group. We had to change the group size due to a mistake of our own and it was very easy to resolve, thank you for that. We had a great time!

The staff were really kind. The location was good and the facilities were good. Everything was clean and the room was warm (when it was very cold outside at -8deg). I would recommend.

We really liked the guest house hachi hachi. The host is extremely nice and gave us great information about the temples and hiking tours. The rooms are large and the mattresses are comfortable. Everything in the house is very well maintained and clean. The bus stop is only 100 meters from the guest house. It is easy to explore Koyasan on foot from the guest house. It is only about 5 minutes to the Famili Mart.

Masahiro and his wife Nana are absolute fantastic hosts. We stayed in total for three nights in different rooms, and the couple felt like family by the time we said goodbye. We said farewell with the packed breakfast meals and two cups of our favourite coffee. The guesthouse is named after the parents who started the coffee shop, and it was their house. I would recommend at the very lease a two night stay to explore Koyasan properly, but three nights were just right for us.

The property was so beautiful. The communal space was warm and inviting and always had some great background music to relax to. Facilities were clean and the staff were friendly and gave great recommendations. Koyasan was a highlight of our trip for sure - especially because of the property.
