Hiro-san is a fantastic host. Super welcoming, speaks great English (which helped us a lot, since my Japanese is...barely functional), has a great sense of humor and is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable - so ask him for recommendations on anything! The place has everything you need, and more - even a mini-onsen that Hiro-san will prepare if you ask for it! If you end up sharing the place with another group your experience could vary, but for us (5 people) everything worked out perfectly. Thank you again to Hiro-san!

Nice, warm and homely. Only a small space but it can only fit 4 guests anyway so it’s a perfect size with two showers as well! The beds were also quite big with plenty of space to put your things. It’s a bit away from the train station but you can catch buses or walk about 15 minutes.

Great place if you want to stay in a traditional house but with modern facilities. We had everything we needed on site. The room was big as it was composed of 2 rooms that could be separated with panels to have a sleeping room and living room. The location is close to the station, close to a supermarket, etc. The host was so kind, and so helpful. At arrival she gave us some maps, pointed interesting spots and even drove us to the station to show us the bus stop for Nikko Wonderland for the next morning. We were offered an amazing breakfast, and also little gift when we left. 本当ありがとうございます！

I absolutely adored my stay at this place. The owner was incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to assist with anything we needed. Her breakfast was plentiful and absolutely delicious. The location is conveniently close to the station. The bedroom was cozy, with a comfortable bed ensuring a restful sleep. Everything about the experience was just perfect! Mariko-san was extremely welcoming and lovely, she made us vegetarian breakfast and gifted us handmade charms! She also gave us a ride to a local restaurant right after arriving at the house so we could have lunch.

the host couple is super nice and friendly. the dinner is amazingly delicious. the onsen is also great. overall it's a comfy stay and would like to stay with them again.

We came to Nikko to explore the nature and we were lucky enough to get just that. The place is near the lake and the bus station, the room was spacious and had everything you'd need. The true value however is in the host Takeru who really helped us a lot with recommendations of what to see and do in the vicinity.

At check-in, owner gives guests all the info they need to know during their stay including a detailed map. Good access to Tobu Nikko station via bus plus short walk. The most comfortable bed I slept in during my 2 week trip to Japan, though not tatami bed. Sound of water from the river and birds chirping as you wake up. Nice homey feel to this place. Private onsen. Imperial Villa is a must-see and located close-by--I would have missed this had the owner not mentioned this at check-in.
