However, we got a room in Thip Phavan Guesthouse and I don’t know whether this is the usual accommodation offered by Thipphaphone.

CanadaFamily run and the daughter was fantastic. She actually wrote out my very long surname and tried to meet me at the boat landing to help us get up the hill. I very much appreciated the gesture. It was a bit crazy at the boat landing so I'm not surprised I missed her.
Guesthouse is a short walk up the hill next to a decent restaurant. She even got up early to make sure we got coffee before we left.
The town caters to the slow boat tourists and many places make sandwiches and baked goods for pre boarding.. one place does their own baking and the banana bread was excellent
Really enjoyed the stop in the town.

United KingdomStayed for one night during the 2 day slow boat to Luang Prabang. Perfect location as it’s a 2 min walk from the pier no need for taxi. Room was really nice and clean, A/C worked well. Made us the most amazing breakfast sandwich the next morning to take onto the boat with us

It is a family run guest house and it has that feel to it, being very warm and welcoming. The room is basic but very clean and we had a comfortable nights sleep. The location is perfect, you don’t need to get a tuk tuk from the boat, it’s an easy 5 minute walk up the hill. The host made us a delicious breakfast and sandwich ready to take the next day, which was all prepared on time in preparation for our next boat departure. It was nice that we got picked up from the boat by the hostess. I believe she was able to drop folk off again the following morning, but we opted to walk the 10mins down to the boat. You can also get lunch prepared for the following day at a reasonable price. The room itself was quiet and comfortable for 1 nights stay. The room was clean, the matress was good and every comodity was at a walking distance. The guesthouse is situated in a quiet neighborhood, next to the main area and the city center nightlife (10 min walking). I met great people when we shared the included breakfast.
