Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.

The rooms are large and very clean, the communal areas are great for chilling out, beds are fantastic, and, best of all, the host and her staff are the friendliest and most helpful people in the world. There are a couple of cheap as well as fancy cafes on the same road, large shops around the corner - and (considering this is Savannakhet) the road here is quite free of stray dogs.

the location is quiet far from the thai embassy, it took me around 10mins via tuktuk. cheap price but excellent service, the staff were very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this place.

Mama Sala was the loveliest, most generous guesthouse host I have come across in 5 months of travelling. I felt like I’d known her forever after just 5 minutes of meeting her! She made me feel so welcome and special. guesthouse grounds are beautiful, waking up in the morning with the sun shining through the trees outside. My bungalow that Mama Sala gave to me had air conditioning and an en-suite and that was an absolute dream ❤️ super clean, super comfy (I slept like a log), best host. Thank you so much Mama Sala! 12/10 🥰

Blissfully quiet in a beautiful garden providing cooling shade. The lovely ladies running the guest house are very friendly and helpful. Definitely the most comfortable pillows I've had for a long time was an added bonus

The breakfast was phenomenal. Homemade omelet and fresh fruit every morning, with Lao style coffee to wash it down! The service was so great, it felt like home for the four nights I stayed. Can definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs a quiet and relaxing place to stay.

Peth’s guesthouse is an oasis where it’s easy to get stuck - it’s so wonderful in many senses. Peth is a lovely host who makes you feel welcome and home. There is a nice common area that is perfect to meet other guests. The garden and the bungalows are beautiful and it’s quiet. I highly recommend this place!
