I absolutely loved my stay at Big Surf House in Popoyo. The room was super cozy — I slept so well, and the curtains added a really nice touch. The air conditioning worked great, and the breakfast was honestly amazing. The vibe here is everything — right on the beach, perfect for swimming, surfing, chilling, and meeting people. It’s a very social place with great community energy. The free yoga class is a huge plus, especially if you surf. There are always lots of activities happening, and there’s this beautiful ritual of just catching the sunset from a nearby spot. The Wi-Fi works well, and everything feels so easy and laid-back. The volunteers are incredible — warm, friendly, and always up for a good chat. Big Surf House isn’t just accommodation, it’s a whole experience. Can’t wait to come back!

Staff are super nice and helpful, amazing place to have a beer and watch the sun go down, pizza restaurant does every other night easy to get privacy but great way to meet people as a solo traveller. And the pizza's amazing!

Laura is such a lovely host. The property is on top of a hill meaning you have the best view of both beaches: playa gigante and playa amarillo 😍 it's the most peaceful little place with a beautiful garden, hammocks and little platforms to chill and enjoy the view! There is a private access to playa amarillo from the back of the house so you get a shortcut to the surf beach 🙌🏼 There is a kitchen if you want to cook or make some coffee in the morning. It's all new/just renovated and very clean! Also the WiFi was working really well so that I could do work calls with the a stunning view.

My stay at Loma Linda Hostel in playa gigante was the highlight of my trip to Nicaragua. It was so nice that I didn’t want to leave and kept extending. Jenny and her family are incredibly warm and welcoming, making me feel as though I was staying with friends. The hostel’s rooms are simple yet clean. But what really makes this Place Special is the familyconnection. This is what made the experience far more enriching than any five-star hotel could offer. You come as a guest and leave as a friend. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful. During my time there, I met two other nice travelers. We sometimes also dined together with the Family in the evenings, engaging in conversations about Nicaragua and local life, which also helped me improve my Spanish. When I return to Gigante, I will undoubtedly stay at this wonderful guesthouse again. Many thanks to Jenny, Walter and the Sweet Little Girl Walkyria for this special time. I highly recommend this hostel to everyone—support the locals!

Upon arrival we were immediately sad to know that we would eventually have to check out, we were already so in love with our room. The location is perfect being close to the best restaurants and cafes in town and also close to the surf breaks. Each room has their own private terrace, we made excellent use of the hammock and rocking chairs looking out to the beach. The owners are incredibly hospitable as well as the staff who maintain, clean, and work in the restaurant. The Thai and Indonesian dinner nights are a must!
