The location is great, there are lots of diners nearby. It is quiet, and the bed is comfortable. I stayed there for two nights and slept very well. I will definitely stay in this hotel next time when I visit Lijiang.

The guesthouse itself is a great value for the price - huge clean rooms, excellent shower, amazing fews, fantastic common space, great meals, good homely atmosphere. Though the real gem is Jackie. From the moment I made a booking to the day AFTER my departure Jackie always made himself available to answer all the questions, help with transportation, plan my days, give advice. Once locals learned I was Jackie's guest, I always got royal treatment wherever I went - that's how much he is respected. And deservingly so. He planned a perfect hiking day for me by providing clear descriptions of all trails, drawing maps, even giving pictures of trail views for reference. He was also in constant contact to make sure I was on the right path. I am city person, and even though Jackie did all the hand-holding and everything for me not to get lost, I got lost anyway. And ended up with a dead phone battery in the middle of nowhere ricefields caught in the rain very late evening. Jackie, being Jackie, got in the car and went searching for me. With the help of the locals in one of the surrounding villages, Jackie was able to locate me and safely brought me back. I was overwhelmed with gratitude! I have never experienced such caring and generous host in all my years of travel. I will fondly remember Yuanyang and Jackie, who made Yuanyang simply perfect!

At the guest house, every unit includes bed linen and towels. We had the most wonderful experience at Timeless Inn, and a huge part of it was thanks to the incredible hosts, Rose and her husband. From the moment we arrived, they treated us not just as guests, but like old friends. As it was our first time in Shangri-La, Rose’s tips and advice were incredibly helpful. She gave us detailed guidance on what to see and do around town, local restaurant recommendations, and even how to get to each place. Her insights really helped us make the most of our stay. She also helped us call for Didi rides and even woke up as early as 6am to accompany us outside and make sure everything went smoothly. Every morning, she prepared a delicious breakfast at our preferred time, always served with a smile and friendly conversation. She shared lovely stories about Shangri-La — what it was like in the old days versus now — which added so much depth to our experience. Her husband kindly picked us up from the airport and was equally warm and welcoming. He also offers transportation and guiding services to out of town attractions, which is a great option for anyone wanting a more convenient and insightful visit. On our last day, Rose recommended we go to Balagezhong instead of Shika Mountain — and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip! The inn itself has a cozy, homely feel. Rose even upgraded our room to the second floor with a beautiful view. Though the stairs are a bit steep, she insisted on helping us carry our large luggage. The location is excellent — right inside the Ancient Town, just steps from shops, restaurants, the Giant Prayer Wheel, and the central plaza where you can enjoy Tibetan dancing every evening. Being on the edge of the old town also made it super convenient for catching a Didi — only a 1–2 minute walk, so no need to haul luggage through narrow streets. This property offers access to a patio and free private parking. The homestay has family rooms. I can't find the words to describe how perfect my stay was. The room was immaculate, the bedding extremely comfortable. The toiletries were top of the range. And the breakfasts... absolutely delicious! Located 2 minutes from the center, this hotel is ideal for a relaxing stay in Shaxi. The host, Lynn, was lovely and always helpful to this French tourist who doesn't speak Chinese (me)! She also sells pottery featuring the local cat mascot: Wa Mao. If I wasn't backpacking for six months, I would have loved to buy some, they're so cute. Just go! ☀️
