At the guest house, all units include bed linen and towels. Great place in the middle of nature. We can always watch monkeys from our balcony and there's 2 hammocks which is perfect for a couple. There are 2 other rental properties in the compound but we felt privacy as our balcony was opposite the others and facing just nature. Kitchen is equipped enough for simple meals. The swimming pool is nice to have is the Costa Rican heat. Owners are very kind.

Beautiful light, comfortable bed, absolutely marvelous host, and a stunning cook as well! Just be prepared that you will access the house via a steep gravel road just slightly outside of the main part of Santa Elena. It's good to have an SUV with good ground clearance in Monteverde and this is no different.

Guest House Pura Vida was our favourite stay in a month of travelling in Costa Rica. We loved meeting and chatting with our hosts Jorge and Pamela who, thanks to their own love and experiences of traveling, put a lot of thought and care into creating a welcoming place for travellers. This was especially evident by the common areas such as the kitchen, which was beautifully arranged over a second-storey balcony. There was some secret sauce that made the space extra-inviting and we had many easy and warm interactions with other guests. Our room was surprisingly spacious and had lots of neat decorative touches to make it feel like home. The property itself was beautiful, with amazing views of the mountains from the common areas, a tree in the courtyard where macaws would visit, and a little stream behind the property. The location, just a few minutes up the hill from the town centre, was quiet and safe (parking either inside the courtyard, or out front on a quiet gravel road). Finally, it's one of the cleanest places I have EVER stayed at, even compared to higher-end hotels etc. etc. I really couldn't ask for anything more if I tried!

I felt very welcome as a sole traveler and it was nice that he made time to chat each morning over breakfast and share insights of the area. The breakfasts were extremely generous and Mike even prepared a continent breakfast on the mornings I needed to leave early on a tour. Mike organized two wonderful tours for me and gave lots of tips of what to see and do. Thank you
