On Saturdays in summer they close off a section of the old town for festivities till 1am. Maison Seraphine is just far enough away not to hear the noise. Pierre is an excellent host Breakfast was great, with fresh fruit and you could squeeze your own fresh orange juice; Pierre even produced scrambled egg. The house is old and quaint but our room was comfortable and spacious with a good walk in shower. There does not seem to be a problem with parking right outside. We came by train. Take a #4 bus from the station and get off at St Martin, only 1.20 euro. Laon is well worth the visit with relatively few tourists. The cathedral is magnificent, must be one of the finest in France. Some good restaurants and if you want a lighter meal, try a platter from the Fromagerie des Remparts.
