On the West bank of the River Shannon, Shannonside House is set within large, private gardens. Guests can enjoy home cooking and free parking, and Athlone's centre is a 5-minute walk away. Property is a short walk from the centre! Friendly host, it was clean and quiet and the bed was super comfy!

The room is located over a busy and friendly pub. I was really surprised at how soundproof the room was given that there was a function on in the bar that night and I'm a light sleeper. The function ended at a reasonable hour but I heard very little noise while it was on. Tip: to avoid a cold shower check the hot water tap in the sink first. The room I was in may have been located furthest from water tanks so it took a little time for the heated water to reach the room. I would have gladly stayed another night but due to a mix up I couldn't, the owner very kindly arranged an alternative place for me to stay.
