The location is very peaceful, the Japanese style room was very prettily decorated and spacious, and the Miyako and her husband were fabulous hosts. They were so friendly and helpful, and made us feel very well cared for. Miyako prepared delicious and generous meals for us that were absolutely beautiful. She was also a huge help with arranging luggage transfer for us as we began our planned hike along the Michinoku trail. And she and her husband offered to drive us to and from Hachinohe station at a very reasonable rate, which is a big help and big time saver because Hachinohe is very spread out.

Guest House Chara se encuentra en Hirosaki, a 34 km de Parque arqueológico de Sannai-Maruyama y a 3,5 km de Castillo de Hirosaki. We spent three wonderful days in Hirosaki, a charming and authentic town that still feels untouched by mass tourism. It was refreshing to explore a place where the pace is slower and the culture feels so genuine. The absolute highlight of our stay was Guest House Chara, run by the kindest elderly couple, Fusao and Toshiko. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel completely at home—it wasn’t just a place to sleep, it truly felt like staying with family. Their house told a story, filled with warmth, history, and the little personal touches that made it feel lived-in and loved. From the amazing homemade breakfast to the delicious ramen dinners they prepared, every meal was made with care and love. The guest house is conveniently located, just a short walk from a supermarket and a laundromat, which made things really easy for us. This personal, welcoming experience truly made our trip special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a meaningful, off-the-beaten-path experience in Japan. ありがとうございます

Tanehachi Farm Guesthouse - Vacation STAY 29709v ofrece alojamiento en Aomori. It was a beautiful and homely stay! Great start to our trip in Japan/Aomori. The host family was very kind and the children were really cute! We got dinner on our first night and breakfast on our last day. We bought some of their honey as well (self-harvested!) Really fresh and delicious home-cooked food (different from the oily city food I am used to). The futons were sooo comfortable too! It's really like living with your relatives (a home/farmstay rather than a hotel so keep your expectations aligned) We love it though! Separate shower and toilets (they do provide bath towel & face towel!). There's a fridge too! We took a walk around the farm/forest and the host showed us his mini waterfall as well :) To be honest, I was a little afraid of the stink bugs but it's not as bad as I thought (mostly harmless and the host teaches you how to capture them). There's an old traditional heater where they will burn firewood so it might get a little chilly but the futon keeps you very cozy.

The hosts were super friendly, professional, and helpful! They went out of their way to arrange a taxi for us due to our early flight out in the morning. In terms of the facility, it was quiet, clean, and the bunk beds are accessible on the second floor via stairs. We traveled as a large party and the guys stayed in the mixed dorms, both upper and lower bunks. The bunks are wooden and looks very nice (quick research shows me they were made out of apple boxes!). Three of the girls in our group stayed in a traditional Japanese room. It was nice and clean. Although later at night, the other side of the Japanese room separated by wooden locked dividers were talking loudly so you can hear them. There are a total of 2 mixed gender shower rooms inside a glass container room with sinks. There is an additional female shower room and another toilet in the female side separated by a curtain from the rest of the hostel. Additional toilets are accessible on the same floor but outside the dorms (not too far though, just separated by sliding doors). Overall, a hostel I'd definitely return to if I'm in Aomori.

Towadako Backpackers se encuentra en Towada, a 10 km de Lago Towada, y dispone de jardín, salón de uso común y terraza. This place has a lot of character and very comfortable and cozy. The dining area is overall a great place to unwind, watch a little tv. Dinner was wonderful and breakfast was good. There’s an onsen hotel a couple minutes walk from the guesthouse where for 500 yen you can try the indoor and outdoor onsen. This is a backpackers guesthouse and for what it is, I had a great experience

自然体験と石窯のある古民家民泊アジールAsyl se encuentra en Hirosaki, a 44 km de Parque arqueológico de Sannai-Maruyama, y ofrece alojamiento con jardín, parking privado gratis y salón de uso común. lovely owners, clean and spacious place, amazing food (ootional). The owners husband is a hobby hunter and serves food with of the animals he hunts and mushrooms he picks. we had a lovely bear shabu shabu. the second they he also went out of his way to show us the local bathhouse (onsen). we worked around the language barrier using Google and had a great time here.
