Be sure to go to the cafe on the first floor which is run by the same organization and is also very artsy and bohemian.

I had a wonderful stay at this beautifully preserved 96-year-old Japanese-style house in Yakushima. The traditional atmosphere is incredibly charming, and you can truly feel the history and care that’s gone into maintaining the home. Everything was exceptionally clean and well-kept, making it both authentic and comfortable. Kimika was an amazing host—thoughtful, welcoming, and full of great energy. The decor in the house is very nice, and the view from the house is stunning as well. In the common room, Kimika also thoughtfully provided delicious local coffee and tea from Yakushima, which added an extra touch of warmth and hospitality. The kitchen also has everything you need. The house is very close to Isso beach, which is a great place to see the sunset. This is the perfect place to unwind and connect with the beauty of Yakushima, and also connect with the locals. I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a unique and memorable experience on this magical island.

I had a gorgeous view of the mountains, place was clean, and water was hot, great location as well a short walk from the ferry. And the coolest dog!

We spent great moments here. Inside the house, it is pretty warm. There are coffee beans and everything ready for us to make a hand drip coffee. I can’t wait to make one cup. The coffee taste so good and smooth, maybe this is selected beans. I connected the Bluetooth speaker and playing Mayumi Itsuwa’s songs. Music harmonized with the lovely chalet interior, the atmosphere is so relaxing and immersive. Kihara-san is very nice. The Shinyu Onsen he recommended is gorgeous. The hot spring water is wonderful. It is milky-white, so natural and so great. I guess it come from a sulphur spring. In the daytime, we hiked around Onamiike and Ebino Plateau. The crater lake is amazing and there are great views along the trails. At night, we do BBQ in front of the chalet. We rent a Charcoal Konro Grill set, it is really convenient. We bought some Japanese Wagyu beef for yakiniku from supermarket near Kirishima. The beef is yummy, really delicious.

Yuki's English knowledge is of great help to make the best out of your stay. Also meeting other guest in the meeting room was really nice to exchange travel experiences.

The owner help us figure everything out for a next day's trek to Jomon Sugi. And day after that one of his staff took us to the airport to help us rent a car. They truly go above and beyond and the property is also very nice. Lot's of tasty izakayas around.
