Ideally located just a 10-minute walk from the iconic Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Guesthouse Soi offers various rooms including private Japanese-style rooms and dormitory rooms. This was a very pleasant place to stay. The room was very comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable and had a heating pad for the back. Good Japanese breakfast. Great area to reach most of the attractions, but not too crowded with tourists.

The location was fantastic, right in the heart of the Gion district and within walking distance of some of Kyoto’s most beautiful spots. There’s also a bus stop just steps away, making it incredibly convenient to get around the city. The hotel itself feels very new, and our room was super spacious for Japanese standards. Everything was spotless, which is always my top priority. We arrived about an hour and a half before check-in, and the staff kindly let us know our room was already ready. They allowed us to check in early at no extra charge, which made a huge difference for us. We really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely return! :)

Every detail of our stay was perfect! The location in my opinion, is the best in Kyoto. It was very comfortable, clean and everything was mindfully thought of. The hosts were the nicest people we’ve met. They showed us so many beautiful places in Kyoto and really cared for us to have a good stay. Maybe one of the best places i’ve stayed in. Next time in Kyoto I’ll definitely stay here again.

The place was very conveniently located, within walking distance to Nishiki market and Metro stop. It was a large comfortable space for a family of four to stretch out and have as our home base to travel and explore Kyoto, so much better option than small hotel room. The host was so kind, and used google translate to help explain everything in the house. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was very spacious. We ate out, so did not use the kitchen, but everything was available to cook yourself.

My husband and I recently stayed 4 nights at Rokkon Guest House, and absolutely loved the experience. Hostess Kayoko is wonderful – incredibly welcoming, friendly, cheerful and helpful. Each homemade, Japanese-style breakfast she provided (along with a detailed description of each food item in English) was a delight. We also enjoyed tasting the different types of teas and sweets she left in our room each afternoon. The guesthouse has been beautifully renovated with great care for the details. Our upper room was spacious and included a dining table, two comfortable beds, another seating area and a small stove for warmth (which we did not need to use in November). The room had its own bathroom and shower, both very clean. The guesthouse’s location is fantastic, walking distance to the Karasuma subway line, plenty of great restaurants, Nishiki Market and Nijo Castle. If you are looking for a traditional lodging experience in Kyoto with a truly lovely hostess who gives her guests personal attention, I highly recommend Rokkon Guest House.

Super clean, nice location, staff is super kind and the place itself is very aesthetically pleasing. The breakfast was super good (both the western and japanese one) and each food was prepared with so much care and attention to detail.

She provided a lot of useful information of the surrounding area and was very welcoming! The place itself is in a convenient location making it easy to travel where you want.
