In addition, the location of the guesthouse in ideal as you can walk to many places such as the famous tree, the library and the onsen itself. Also, the room is spacious and the bed is comfy. Super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed breakfast, my wife skipped hers, so the host packed it as a bento box for our lunch. Vegetables from the garden. A guided visit to the forest to see fireflies. Tastes of local food and drink. It was if we were lodging with my favourite aunt and uncle.

Rie, the owner is the best! She is friendly, providing best service, warm-welcomed, helpful and provide us tons of good information and recommendations. She also helps us with Universal Adapter and reserving Izakaya Restaurant. The room is comfy and the place is located in tiny town which is really lovely.

43 km from Mount Aso, hostel+cafe たね is a recently renovated property situated in Hōgano and features air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. Housed in a building dating from 2023, this guest house is 47 km from the Lake Ezu. The guest house has family rooms. Charming location. Beautiful traditional Japanese house. We brought pot noodles as worried there would be nowhere to eat but didn't need to worry as helpful host gave us directions to an izikaya a couple of kilometres away. Good if you have a car but probably not ideal to walk at night as not much pavement or lighting. Wish we had a bit more time to enjoy setting.

It was comfortable with heaters around the house to keep you warm, and a cute cat to roaming about.
