This was such an unforgettable experience. We were supposed to stay for just one night but ended up staying 4! Okay, from the beginning. We had different accommodation in Hakuba, but we weren’t satisfied so we were looking for something else and found Dark Horse by chance. The moment we walked into the house, we were greeted with smiles and warmth. Andy, Rika, Momo and Hana create something truly special. We’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels and such, but this one will stay in our hearts for a long time. Everything is well thought out, you can see it’s taken care of down to the smallest detail, you can see it’s done properly and not just to be the cheapest. We felt so beautifully hosted. They also have an amazing sake collection to try, and the food is delicious too. Thank you again and we already miss it. I hope we’ll get the chance to meet again. PS. If you’re wondering whether to book a room at Dark Horse, don’t hesitate!​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Very clean and comfortable rooms, the owner cooks amazing food and took excellent care of us. He even showed us around town as we didn’t have a car, told us a bit about the towns history and was kind enough to take us to the train station when we left. 10/10 will be coming back if I get the chance!

Very nice interior in Japanese traditional style. Very nice staff, host explained us everything abuut the guesthouse and the surrounding area. Everything was clean.

Very cozy and clean hostel! It's located in Nawate street so it's nice to walk around. Also you can get a good coffee 50% off from the next door makes my morning very happy!

Clean and big rooms, en suite toilet was well equipped! Went during winter, and the whole cottage was surrounded by snow - such a vibe! Staff was very friendly, breakfast was super delicious! Thanks for the pickup and drop off at the bus station!

This was our absolute favorite accommodation we have ever stayed at (and we have traveled all over the world as a family!) The concept is just so incredibly cool. The cafe is yours to use as you wish. The bedrooms are nicely decorated and it can accommodate my whole family of 5 comfortably. The staff is incredibly kind, helpful, and friendly. There is a beautiful and extremely well-stocked grocery store right across the street! I cannot recommend this place more highly than 10+++ stars. Please do yourself a favor and book this hotel. If we ever return to Matsumoto we will surely return. Thank you Cafe & Stay for the wonderful memories!

The hosts and owners of the hotel (Chisato and Shuei) were the most lovely and accommodating hosts! From the delicious breakfasts every morning, to assisting with restaurant bookings and ski pass purchasing, their service was excellent and made for a very pleasant stay. Togoro has comfortable beds, warm rooms, free WIFI, heated ski/board storage room, and more. Togoro's location is perfect; right next to a public onsen and the bus stop for the snow shuttle and the transfer bus from Iiyama, and easy walking distance to anywhere you might need to go.

The property was in a nice location close enough to Iiyama Station. The hosts were some of the nicest people we have met and drove us to and from the station (6:30am!!). One of the comfiest places we have stayed and hope we can go back soon.
