What a lovely place to stay! it is a private home that has been converted to a home stay however the manager was not onsite during the night and you did not feel like you were living in someone's pocket. Clean, warm and comfortable. our room was a traditional Japanese one. I was a bit wary about sleeping on the floor but the futons were thick and exceptionally comfortable with plenty of blankets. There is a private hot spring bath that is available for use which is lovely to soak in. staff were really nice and the breakfast was super delicious!

The owner left some "welcome" ice cream in the freezer and then brought a watermelon he had grown in his garden as a welcome gift. Nice touch. Big supermarket store right next door - food, drinks, medicines etc. (cash only). Great location - close to major Katsuki attractions, not long drive to Beppu. The host is very friendly and helpful. At the end of the stay, he gave us a tour of Kitsuki samurai residences which was a great bonus. Thank you, sir, it was much appreciated. I highly recommend to stay here if you're visiting Kitsuki, Beppu or nearby areas.

It is tucked away from the crowd but walkable to the station, main street and flower village. The staff were very warm and welcoming. I had a wonderful breakfast there with a view of the lake.
