With rooftop viewpoints, a tranquil pool, and outstanding service, this place truly offers a special experience. Even though it's located a bit off the beaten path, the atmosphere more than makes up for it—you might not want to leave at all. The included breakfast was so generous it practically lasted us all day. In the evening, there was a great selection of local and Western dishes made with high-quality ingredients (though portions were on the smaller side). The peaceful pool area was perfect for unwinding, and the staff really took Sri Lankan hospitality to the next level. Occasional evening power fluctuations were handled smoothly with a temporary diesel generator, but it switched off well before bedtime, leaving only the soothing jungle sounds. For mobile work, this place may not be ideal—the Wi-Fi relies on a mobile connection, which wasn't strong enough for demanding online tasks. But for a relaxing holiday segment in Sri Lanka, this place gets our full recommendation! We arrived by public bus from Kandy, changing at Dambulla, and then took a Tuk Tuk from the Sigiriya bus stop to the accommodation for 1000 rupees. During our stay, we rented a scooter in Sigiriya, while other guests used rental Tuk Tuks to get around.

The traditional restaurant at the guest house serves Asian cuisine, and is open for dinner and lunch. This the best stay which you can choose in Dambulla city! The hotel is located in a walk distance from the main road between the rice fields. You will have peace and nature around you. The rooms are great and clean with all necessarcy equipment (hair dryer, hot water, towels etc.). The staff is excelent and really helpful - they will organize everything you need. It’s worth to mention about their restaurant- big portions, delicious food and great prices. If you planning to visit Sigirya/Polonnaruwa - again ask the host. They know the really nice guy with tuk tuk who transport you, show you hidden spots and tell a lot about the neighborhod. As always in a really good price.

Offering a garden and garden view, Simoya Nature Park is set in Dambulla, 19 km from Sigiriya Rock and 22 km from Pidurangala Rock. Both free WiFi and parking on-site are accessible at the guest house free of charge. The accommodation offers a 24-hour front desk and full-day security for guests. We stayed 3 nights at Simoya. Madhu and Sanjee were very welcoming and nothing was too much bother. The room was to a high standard and had everything you needed, including a fridge which was very handy. Breakfast was huge but very tasty and we also ate dinner there for all 3 of the nights we stayed. In all honesty, Im not sure where else we could have eaten in the local area which was at the same quality as Madhu and Sanjee's cooking. We went to the top of Pidurangala rock for an extra fee at sunrise which was well worth the money. We also paid Sanjee for a transfer to Kandy which was at a reasonable rate. Both Sanjee and Madhu were perfect hosts and really lovely people. The one thing I would say that I have found throughout Sri Lanka is to check costs before agreeing to things but that advice goes throughout and everything additional we paid for we felt was worth the money.
