It is a wonderful hidden place in the middle of nature. Gilbert was the perfect host. Although there isn’t a pool or sea close by, also our children found it the best place we visited so far in Nicaragua. It’s a quiet and comfortable location and Gilbert prepares excellent food for the complete family. His neighbour, a farmer, is also very willing to take you on a trip around the area. I would recommend this country house to everyone.

Good location, quiet, friendly people

Hostal Mariela is a cozy family run hostel, located close to Cortan Norte bus station in Esteli. Cotran Sur is a walkable distance too; or a super quick and cheap shared taxi ride away. The location worked perfect for me, as I planned to take buses to nearby locations such as Miraflor, Estanzuela etc. It is close to supermarket and local shops, so you can buy fresh produce for your meals. The rooms are clean and comfortable; kitchen is clean and well equipped. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Super convenient.

Great location a 20 minite walk from the bus station and a few minutes from town centre. The staff couldn't have been more attentive, asking if we wanted free coffee water, room cleaned etc. The room was modern with a fan and the bathroom had hot water and free toothpaste, razor etc. There was a lounge area with great views over the town . Some of the rooms don't have a window but we were shown a selection and chose one with a window for the same price.

Super large beautiful clean room, great host, comfortable bed, close to north bus terminal and Pan American hwy. I would definitely recommend Wally's.

This property is hidden gem of the north of Nicaragua! We loved the peace and tranquillity of the suite, and the climate is perfect. Great views of the nearby mountain too. The host went out of his way to make our stay comfortable, enjoyable, and was a pleasure to make his acquaintance! He cooked us delicious, healthy, and wonderful food for our stay. I can’t recommend his cooking highly enough.

Good location in centre of Esteli. Really comfy area to chill, hammocks, rocking chairs and a big 'L' sofa. Quiet hostel. Worth noting, if you are a solo traveler looking to meet other travelers, it will be limited in Esteli. We loved that it was so quiet though. Was just two of us in a 9 bed dorm for our entire stay!
