Bruce and Teresa were fabulous hosts! Our cottage was so romantic and cozy. I never rent a place where I have to share a bathroom, but I made an exception. I'm so glad I did! They had three toilet rooms, two with showers. They were extremely clean and spacious. The BEST part of it was that it made us go outside at night and see the beauty. Unfortunately, it was a cloudy day, but on a clear night...OMG! The shared kitchen was a HUGE bonus. It was well equipped with a full size refrigerator, oven, stove, and all the utensils necessary to make a fabulous meal. The three cottages are amongst the enormous garden and you feel like you are living in a fairytale! I highly recommend this place and it's so close to the big Kauri trees!

We can only give our best recommendations.

Shipwreck Bay Beach is 1.2 km from the lodge. Guesthouse with a great vibe, comfortable rooms clean and plenty of shared facilities. Location right across from the beach is excellent including a side beach view from our room with a bonus when you see the Ahipara horses graze right outside of our window.

At the inn, every room comes with a patio. Each room comes with a kettle and a private bathroom with a shower and free toiletries, while selected rooms are equipped with a kitchen equipped with a dishwasher. Guest rooms in Mangawhai Lodge are fitted with a flat-screen TV and a hairdryer. We had a lovely stay at Mangawhai Lodge. It's located at the top of a hill and has outstanding views. Jeanette our host was absolutely lovely and made it feel like we were staying with family. Breakfast was fantastic and freshly cooked each day with the choice of continental with yummy fresh fruit salad as an added bonus or a eggs, bacon and such. The lodge is not right in town center, but it's a short 15 walk to get to the cafes and restaurants. It's also within 10 to 1 hour drive to many awesome experiences and places. So you can see beautiful beaches and go surfing near by, do walking routes and explore cliffs, forrest and waterfalls or even a little city life in Whangarei.

Situated within 1 km of Long Beach and 400 metres of Christ church, Bellrock Lodge features rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Russell. This 5-star guest house offers full-day security and luggage storage space. There is a barbecue and guests can make use of free WiFi, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. We liked Bellrock Lodge and this little village so much, we even extended our stay! :) It is worth staying longer in Kororareka Russell and especially at Bellrock Lodge, so let us tell you why: Bellrock Lodge is situated on a little hill (if you walk, there are a few steep meters) and because of that, you will have the most amazing views from your terrace over the coast. On clear days you will even see as far as Waitangi. The apartment and the terrace are quite spacious, even the bathroom offers more than usual space in rental properties. It is very nice equipped. The garden is beautiful so you also see beautiful garden greenery from the terrace. The hosts Catherine and Stuart are very kind and responded fast via WhatsApp. Their sweet dog Piper was also a great host and excited to offer play time with her favorite football and such :D Catherine and Stuart were always very hospitable, so for instance, if you get in a morning rain like us, getting new towels is easy peasy, just a message/call away ;-) The Lodge offers great amendities: laundry, dryer, DVD Library (great selection, we loved it), CD and Book Library aswell... To top it off, the Whirlpool and BBQ area are great, with superb views also. We loved to enjoy the Spa, especially on rainy days. In addition to that, we highly appreciated how thoughtful everything is equipped, there are umbrellas in the driveway, wineglasses from plastic for the Spa, different chairs (even comfy reading/TV chairs), more than 2 different towel sizes and many more things like that.. We have travelled a lot and Bellrock Lodge is one of our favorites. You nearly forget, that you are at a self-service accomendation because everything is so thoughtfully done. It is worth staying longer, you can experience a lot in the area, walk to the beaches from Bellrock if you want to, get groceries and have great restaurants/cafés in town.

The tiny home was incredibly cozy and kept heat in which - for such a cold and wet trip - was a must for us haha. The couple that own it were incredibly friendly and I really appreciated them greeting us. Was lovely to say hello. They were also super helpful.
