This guesthouse is a renovated Alentejo house, with everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The room was clean, as well as all the shared facilities. All the linen had an amazing fresh smell and all the divisions were thought to be cosy (lighting, decoration, textures). It has a lovely terrace to relax after a day in the heat. It's located within the city center of Evora and has access to everything you need (cafes, bakery, supermarket).

It's an exceptional accommodation in an old house that is completely renovated with an original modern design, excellent facilities, hospitable, friendly, helpful and professional staff with a special atmosphere. Everything is new and very clean. The breakfast is very good. It's quiet and special. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and strongly recommend the others to have such a wonderful experience.

Nice, spacious terrace and room with a kitchen outside; the TV is also of a good size and high up on the wall; and the staff are really kind. We forgot a pair of glasses and the owner promptly mailed it to us and refused to charge us for it. Great experience! The hotel itself is like a step back in time, with each room styled uniquely to reflect the charm of a traditional Portuguese home. It’s full of character but still manages to be incredibly comfortable and inviting. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Gonçalo, the General Manager. He showed us around and shared the hotel’s history, which added so much depth to our stay. He was friendly, approachable, and clearly passionate about the place, which really set the tone for the entire experience. The hotel’s atmosphere is incredibly peaceful, and the pool area, though small, is beautifully designed - a perfect spot to relax and take in the serene surroundings. But let’s talk about the food - because it was the absolute highlight of our stay. Trust me, as someone who’s a serious foodie and has eaten at countless restaurants, this is not a compliment I give lightly: it was the best food I’ve ever had. The head chef is not just talented but also incredibly warm and passionate. Each dish was a masterpiece, rooted in traditional Portuguese flavors, and the chef took the time to explain the story behind each one. We even had a great chat and discovered he’s a Manchester fan (great taste!) Every bite was an experience, and the meals are something we’ll be dreaming about for years to come. Casa Az-Zagal is a truly special place. From the welcoming staff to the peaceful setting and the unforgettable food, it’s a stay we’ll always remember.
