The kitchen is especially well thought out: each room has its own assigned table, cupboard, and set of plates, utensils, and cooking items, which keeps things wonderfully neat and easy for everyone. And then there is Catarina – what a host! She is truly the heart of this place. Warm, sincere, and full of genuine care, she puts her soul into making her guests feel welcome and valued. She visits daily to tidy and refresh the common areas, replace the flowers, and, more often than not, surprise guests with delicious homemade or local treats. She is thoughtful, adaptable, and always ready to help – whether it’s offering great local tips or simply checking in via message to see if we needed anything. We felt so looked after and appreciated her kindness enormously. The property itself feels like a peaceful haven – quiet, comfortable, and infused with warmth and charm. Everything here has been designed with the guest’s comfort in mind, and you can feel the love and pride that goes into it. We travel often, but this stay will remain a highlight for us. The staff were wonderful, warm, welcoming and delighted to answer questions, offer services and suggestions, invite us to enjoy the evening fire, recommend activities etc. we thoroughly enjoyed everything about our time at Solar Dos Cantos.

It felt like everything was done with love and care, and we so appreciated it. We checked out quite early and coffee, cake and some bread was put out for us—so kind! We also loved hanging out with the resident cat, who is very sweet!

The house is huge so we didn't mind other people staying there at the same time. The host was very hospitable and kind. He helped us call the taxi to the airport and let us leave our bags longer due to our evening flight.
