From the first moment, we felt very welcome. The location is perfect. The rooms are comfortable and well decorated. Everything is clean and well organized. The food is delicious. All the staff are kind and friendly.

The guest house offers bed linen, towels and housekeeping service. I ended up not going, but my partner still went and the hotel was easy to communicate with to adjust the booking and name.

At the guest house, all units are soundproof. Everything. The perfect location, the nice details everywhere, the food, and of course the kindness of the owners and everybody working at Mama Root. It was a perfect getaway spot.

The area is popular for cycling, and car hire is available at the guest house. Thanks Beth and Dullah for the wonderful stay! This was the best shower we had after a month travelling East Africa, the kitchen staff do an amazing job and even cooked us a banquet on our last night! Cocktails were also delicious. We swam in the ocean at high tide and at low tide the pool was great to cool off. Beth was kind enough to organise a mangrove tour one day and a spice and stone town tour on another day for us. If you are looking for a relaxing, friendly, welcoming place to escape the islands tourism scene then look no further!

How welcoming Ursula and Geoffrey have been, the room, the friendliness of the staff, the fact that there’s no chaos around the hotel, the food, the sea, the activities suggested and the services provided. We wish we could have extended our stay!

Guesthouse No. 1 has five different rooms and one apartment in various categories, ideal for singles, couples, and backpackers. This place was beautiful! We loved that it was set back from the beach so it was quiet, yet we had easy access to the ocean and we had a wonderful view of the turquoise waters from our large covered balcony. The balcony was an extension of our huge and pleasant room. A delicious and plentiful breakfast was delivered to our balcony each morning. The owner was very kind! He allowed us to stay extra time, since our taxi wasn't arriving until after check-out time.
