So many good things. 1) The place is sweet, homey, clean, cozy (burning woodfire when we arrived in the cold afternoon)--a historic old building with modern updates/renovation. Lots of room. Two floors. 2) All the best values of this unique place, Geel, are embodied in the beautiful host Sophie. Our meeting conversation with her was one of the highlights of a month of travels for me, maybe the best moment of the trip. Very kind hosting--hospitality in the most real and deep sense. Plus: Sophie's husband Paul is a legendary cyclist (hence the name, Velo --94 is the year he won the Cyclo-Cross World Championship)--so cyclists, check it out!

The property was located overlooking the Maas, and within a 10 minute drive of Maastricht city. The views were beautiful, and everything in the property was set up for a weekend away. Rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The shower was excellent and the bathroom well stocked for forgotten essentials.

The heating was on when we got there which made it extra cosy which was lovely of the host to do before we got there . The bathroom was a very good size included a bath and shower . The sofa bed was really ideal as I had my two children with me and they slept on there . I bought long with me two blankets anyway as we travelled by car . The kitchen was a good size . For me the cleanliness of the apartment was really fresh and clean .
