Some things have changed since then, but the important parts remain the same. The new additions, like the restaurant and the second sauna, are great upgrades. Although it’s self-catering here, the restaurant is perfect for us when we didn’t feel like cooking. The food is authentic Finnish cuisine, and it really adds to the experience. What hasn’t changed is the stunning scenery and the hospitable people. It’s for me the perfect place to disconnect from city life and enjoy some peace and quiet away from the tourist crowds in Rovaniemi. We stayed for several days, and there’s always something to do—Nordic skiing, husky safaris, chasing the northern lights on the lake, or just relaxing in the sauna. It’s impossible to get bored. This place has such a special charm, and I’m already looking forward to coming back a third time!

Each villa has a fully equipped kitchen, seating area with a flat-screen TV and CD player. A dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer are also included. Free WiFi, bed linen and towels are included. We stayed in Villa Asta. As a couple it was extremely spacious and well equipped. We loved the sauna and the easy access to the back deck so we could do cheeky snow baths in between sauna sessions. The Villa is situated in a forest area away from town. While there are other cabins nearby it felt quite private and quiet. We didn’t have a car but we found it quite okay; It’s about 30 min walk into town to get groceries, which we didn’t mind because there are plowed, well lit and well signposted walking paths all the way into town through the beautiful forest. There is also a cafe (Laanilan Savottakahvila) about 10-15 min walk into the opposite direction, which again was easy to walk to. You can also catch the ski bus from this cafe. We found the Villa to be warm and cozy. And we loved the large windows that look out into the winter forest.

Guests can make use of the outdoor fireplace or the picnic area, or enjoy views of the lake and pool. This cabin was fantastic. Even in the cold weather, it warms up well and is very cozy. Amazingly, I was able to use the hot tub even in -35°C. Everything was perfectly clean, and the host was very communicative and friendly. She took us on a number of fantastic excursions, including a home-cooked Sámi dinner, snowmobiling, and ice fishing, and she is very knowledgable about Sámi culture. She made sure we had all the proper gear for staying warm and took good care of us. The cabin is only a few feet from a lake and also a short walk away from a resort where you can get meals. In the winter, the frozen lake is a perfect spot for viewing aurora. The drive to get there from Ivalo is also very beautiful. If you are willing to drive a little, there are some nice villages and museums in the area as well. I would definitely come back. Thank you, Teija, for a wonderful stay.

The property has lake and garden views, and is 46 km from Santa Park. The holiday home has an outdoor fireplace and a sauna. The location was ideal. Not so far from Rovaniemi, near a ( frozen when we were there) lake. A lot of space, open sky ideal to hunt northern lights. The cottage ( Mustikka) we were staying at was sooo cute and comfy. The meals served at the restaurant were simple and delicious. The staff super nice and ready to help at any time.
