Auchendennan FarmSelf Catering Cottages offers a beautiful setting in Arden, a short walk from the shores of Loch Lomond and only 2 miles from Balloch. These charming cottages are purpose-built and have free Wi-Fi. The keys were left in a safe and easy-to-access place, the studio was clean, well furnished, and in a great location with a great view. There is a community feel there and we felt at home in the property.

We were just minutes from the Quirang Walk, Old Man of Storr, and other gorgeous viewpoints on the northern part of the isle. Staffin has two small grocery stores. The Hungry Gull is a popular place for take away or eat in breakfast and lunch. If Portree is on your itinerary, it is only a 30 min drive. The hostess was welcoming, offered helpful tips, and suggested places to visit that we hadn’t been aware of. Don’t hesitate to book this incredible gem!!! If we get the chance to return, we are definitely booking here again.

Situated in Killin, Central Scotland region, Firbush Lochside Lodges is set 32 km from Aberfeldy Golf Course. With free private parking, the property is 40 km from Castle Menzies and 22 km from The Scottish Crannog Centre. Featuring a private entrance, the holiday home allows guests to maintain their privacy. The pod is located in a superb area, very quiet. The view from the pod on Loch Tay is amazing. The access to the shore via the small path. Location in nature but a short distance from Killin (coop, cafes etc).

Boasting river views, Riverview Cottage is set in Halkirk, 32 km from The Castle Gardens of Mey. Both free WiFi and parking on-site are accessible at the holiday home free of charge. The property is non-smoking and is situated 29 km from Sinclair's Bay. We used this as a base to visit Thurso, Wick and surrounding areas. Very comfortable, lots of room, nice little town, recommended.

The property has an outdoor dining area. We had a fantastic stay at this beautifully decorated house. We really appreciated that Garry the host had put the heating on, that the place smelt heavenly with scented diffusers in the different rooms, and that he had provided complementary drinks for our arrival. What more could you ask for. The house has everything you need and was so cosy. This was the absolute perfect spot for our golfing trip. It was located very close to the town and golf courses and there were supermarkets just around the corner from the house. The area itself was nice and quiet. Garry, the host was always available to answer any questions. I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a little gem. A really great find.

Great location, by the road and yet so peaceful.

Do not hesitate to book this property for your vacation on Skye. We had some great few days that in fact proved to be all too short. The owner (Grace) clearly has a deep interest in interior design and have let her creativity loose in this property. Look around and you will find lots of funny little details. Grace was very responsive to any request or question. When arriving the property appeared 100% clean, recently designed with high quality materials, artefacts, and furniture easily accommodating 6 people. The property has two separate rentals, but they are well-divided and you will experience full privacy in your part. The location is stunning along Loch Bay with a 10-15 min drive along a very scenic road to get to the house. This may sound long, but you will experience the difference of nature’s colours and beauty every time you pass. Distances are long on Skye but you have the Quiraing, the Fairy Pools and the Fairy Glen within driving distance – all must-see’s for first time visitors to Skye. For those with an interest in gastronomy and self-catering the presence of an AGA stove will impress (for those not – don’t worry, there is also a normal ceramic stove in the kitchen). There is a small garden with outdoor seating and herbs for free use. Before our arrival Grace had arranged the sourcing of ultra-fresh and beautiful seafood from Just-Hooked in Portree, including lobsters, langoustines and scallops. For those wanting high-end restaurant experiences Michelin-starred Lock Bay is within a short drive or 30-40 min walk, and The Three Chimneys and Edinbane Lodge are within driving distance. Book weeks or months in advance if you want to go to these restaurants.
