The hosts Mark and Sarah are delightful people. They really look after their guests. I was travelling on my own and they went out of their way to make sure I was well cared for.

I think this property has been freshly refurbished as it was exceptionally clean. Constant hot water Loved having the games room, and the freedom to use the kitchen, and the location near the beach was great. From the outside you would not expect it to be as good as this.

Muncaster Castle Coachman's Quarters are now all self catering with recently refreshed and redecorated rooms all with access to communal kitchen, dining room and lounge areas.

Castle grounds are beautiful! As a guest, you have access to all the grounds, the bird shows, weapon area where you can shoot cross bows, throw axes and do archery. Access to kitchen which is fully stocked. The room we stayed in was simple but perfect and really spacious with a sofa and TV. For the price I can't recommend this place enough

Everything you could wish for at 50 quid ... Not the Ritz but if your in the area to hike and get head down it's perfect. Lovely restraunt across the road and 15 min drive to scafold... Unreal!

We were warmly welcomed at this cozy farm with home feeling at the end of beautiful Vassdale. Georgina was very helpful, knowledgeable and took care of our wet jackets and shoes. We appreciated the common room where we could eat our own dinner and play games by the fire place. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The setting beneath the majestic mountains has a very special atmosphere, and is a good starting point for discovering the highest peaks of Lake District and the western lakes. We recommend to stay several nights to fully appreciate the accomodation and the area around. Even after leaving, on a hike up to Scafell Pike, we still enjoyed the memory of this amazing place thanks to packed lunches with delicious home made cake. Thank you very much, we would love to come back!

This is one of those rare cases that you immediately feel when entering the doorway - all the pieces fit together. The beautifully stylish way the old barn has been restored with respect for the historic details, the high comfort level that is provided through every little detail, the luxury feel offered by things like high quality bathroom products, two quality cushions on each bed (one soft, one harder) the subtle music playing, the lovely breakfast cooked to perfection, and most of all the warm hospitality offered by Emiko and her team, at all adds up to a feeling of being cared for. In Japan, this is called ‘Omotenashi’ and this is what I’ve truly experienced at The Wayside and Whisky Barn. Not to forget the excellent collection of quality whisky’s (including unique Japanese bottles) of which Emiko can tell you everyting in her own, friendly and attentive way. In the end I stayed five days instead of two as originally booked. Yes, truly perfect service does still exist.

We needed somewhere to stay that was close to the property we are renovating, and it was ideal . The room was very clean and modern deco . The modern bathroom was lovely, and shower pressure was good . The owner was very informative on where best to eat etc . Would definitely recommend staying in these rooms .

It was close to the ESK gorge where we were canyoning. It was warm ideal for me and my children. Really helpful staff - really good shower and awesome beds

Great price, Brilliant location with sea views from the Breakfast table, rooms were excellent and a great breakfast served by Karen every morning who was a superb host. Highly recommend if you are ever in Capetown.
