We had a beautiful traditional Japanese style room that was very comfortable. When we arrived the owner was very kind and gave us a map and a lot of information that was very useful for our visit (he gave us amazing onsen recommendations!). We loved our stay there, we would definitely recommend more than one night in this beautiful town in this cozy hotel

Liked the tatami style of the place! Looks newly refurbished and very clean. Facilities are complete but bear in mind there is no shower/bath facilities. We went for the Ohtaki No Yu Onsen and showered there, so this was not an isssue. Toilets are shared but this is not an issue too as there weren't many ppl staying at the ryokan. Parking is walkable, only 50metres away. Very value for money!!

it was nice and comfy. we booked the quad room but ended up getting the whole room to ourselves! the kotatsu was really nice and the staff was all friendly. they gave some great recommendations on where to eat and which onsens to check out.They're very nice and would chat with you if you stay at the lobby. it's located close to some of the main attractions but distanced enough that it's quite peaceful and away from the crowds. Although we didn't bring much luggage there was still ample storage space in our room. There's also lockers there but no locks (I'm not sure if the front desk would lend any since we didn't bother asking as we had the room to ourselves). We quite liked our stay there so we might book it again when we go back to Kusatsu!

I really enjoyed staying at Villa Alpen! This ski in ski out hotel is quiet old but the atmosphere there is so peaceful. Onsen works 24 hours! It is a great bonus. The continental breakfast and Japanese style dinner served. All good! The staff is very friendly. The ski resort is consisted of multiple small resorts and they all interconnected. The owners accommodated all my needs and were very helpful and kind! I will be back for sure!
