The setting was very nice, with close to all the attractions of the Mullingar area but in the countryside. The host's husband, who was filling in while she attended to family matters, was very friendly and even gave us a tour of his hurling stick manufacturing and shop. It's a gated yard, so it felt very secure, and the breakfast area had everything you needed for a little snack or a good start to the day!

The location, friendliness of owner, quietness of the location, and the breakfast were all exceptional and better than I had expected. The owner gave us good advice as to what to see and where to go, and even when departing and we told him where to we were heading, he recommended a restaurant to us which we visited and were super please with.

On the West bank of the River Shannon, Shannonside House is set within large, private gardens. Guests can enjoy home cooking and free parking, and Athlone's centre is a 5-minute walk away. Lovely place and wonderful people!

WIFI was also great, we really couldn't have asked for more. Also, only a 15 minute drive to drive Mullingar for shops and restaurants

I only stayed one night at Hardwood Hall, but it was such a lovely experience. The bed was incredibly comfy – perfect after a long day of travel. In the morning, I was treated to a delicious homemade breakfast that really hit the spot. The owner was so friendly and welcoming, genuinely eager to help with anything I needed. Even in just one night, the hospitality stood out. I’d happily come back for a longer stay next time!
